Why we love this recipe?
I love this recipe. And I am pretty sure if you try it, you will love it too.
This recipe is very simple to make and using store bought crescent rolls and canned apple filling saves a ton of time.
Now, traditionally donuts are deep-fried, making them high in calories and full of fat and oil. A great thing about this recipe is that we are not deep frying the apple donut holes.
Instead, we air fry these. Because an air-fryer uses advanced technology to fry things without the need for a lot of oil, you can make donuts that are perfect in texture using an air fryer.
Although to get that nice golden crisp on the outside, I do brush these with butter.
How to store Leftovers for Later
Since you are using premade ingredients for this recipe, you don't really have to prepare it ahead of time.
Well, most likely, you won't have any leftover donuts. Especially if you have kids at your home. They will simply love these donuts. The donuts are light, airy, sugary, delicious, and addictive.
If you have a few leftover donuts by any chance, you can place them in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator. These will stay fresh for up to 3 days. After three days, they might start getting soggy.
If you are wanting to prepare these ahead of time, you can prepare the balls and freeze them. This way, when you want to air-fry them you can take them out, coat them with butter and cinnamon sugar, and cook them in your air fryer. You may need to add an extra minute or two to cook them all the way through.
